Könntest auch mal Manjaro testen. Hat in der Regel nen neueren Kernel und aktuellere Pakete als Ubuntu. Basiert zwar auf arch, ist aber auch recht einfach zu managen, wenn man das arch wiki lesen kann https://manjaro.org/get-manjaro/

So, ich bin gerade in der lubuntu live distro unterwegs. Dazu habe ich die IGP als first boot vga gesetzt. Das System geht.

Stimmt mit dem ueberein, was verbaut ist. Die Grafikkarte wird ebenso erkannt. Im Monitormenue werden drei angezeigt. Zwei haengen noch an der R9. Aktiviere ich sie, haengt sich das System auf. Woran erkenne ich, dass der Grafiktreiber installiert/geladen ist?
OK, dann muss ich mir mal die kleine SSD aus meiner ZBOX klauen und das System darauf installieren, mit nem Live System hat das glaube kaum Sinn.

Edit 2: zurück im Windows... es kanns doch nicht sein, dass es schon wieder mit so einem gefriemel losgeht. Ich setze das Ganze, wie oben beschrieben mal auf und knechte mich mal durch. Ist denn von Haus aus schon ein Treiber vorhanden? Stichwort OpenSource Treiber

Das sieht danach aus, dass die Grafikkarte nicht richtig unterstützt wird oder der Treiber einen Bug hat.
mögliche Auskünfte zum Grafiktreiber findest Du in:
– Ausgabe von dmesg
– /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Vom Kernel her soll sie unterstützt werden. Ich lese auch immer wieder die R9 in Kombi mit Ubuntu läuft. Ich habe mich noch zum Thema Kernel Update eingelesen, eventuell bringt es ja ein aktuellerer. Mit der IGP rennt es, aber hilft mir nicht.

habe es gestern Abend noch mit Manjaro getestet. Das Ergebnis ist das Gleiche. Ich schätze mal, dass die 390 doch mehr Schwierigkeiten macht als gedacht. Wobei ich ein paar Parameter, die ich mir rausgesucht habe, noch nicht angewendet habe. Das kommt heute.
wie zickig kann sich ein System bitte schön anstellen? Ich habe ein Kernelupgrade auf 4.16.7 gemacht, wie es einer geschrieben hatte. Immerhin komme ich mit der Grafikkarte zum Anmeldebildschirm. Nach der Anmeldung wieder Blackscreen. Mit der IGP läuft es jederzeit. Ich lasses mal sein fürs erste. Vielleicht läuft mir ja eine andere Grafikkarte über den Weg
